Reminder: Work on l'Acadie and de Louvain
Construction of a combined sewer is in progress on l'Acadie Boulevard and de Louvain Street since the beginning of May. The city of Montreal is investing $5.5 million.
It is the recent arrival of companies in this sector, between Autoroute 15 and l’Acadie Boulevard close to Marché Central, which has necessitated this work. Four companies invested large amounts in the construction of their head office, including Parasuco ($25 million), Point Zero ($18 million), Dix Étoiles ($1 million) and Thomas Fruit and Vegetables ($1.5 million).

“This work aims at bringing up to par our sewer network in order to support a sector under development,” said Sammy Forcillo, of the city of Montreal executive committee, at a news briefing.

The work in progress represents the first phase of the project and will make it possible to reduce the risks of back-ups and floods in this sector. The combined sewers will be installed parallel to the existing infrastructures, so that the hydraulic capacity of the sewer system in this sector will be largely improved. When this work is completed, it will be possible to proceed with the construction of the sewers needed for the extension of Pratt Street.

During this work, which will last approximately four months, traffic on l’Acadie Boulevard will be maintained, with two lanes in either direction.
